Cyclists on a trip at Gålå in the fall

Join a guided tour experience

Some experiences are even better when shared with someone who knows the area.

Throughout the summer, we offer experiences that bring you closer to the nature, stories, and wildlife of Gålå.

Here you’ll find activities that create memories to take home with you.

Moose Safari

Experience the king of the forest in his true element

As the summer evening settles over Gudbrandsdalen, the king of the forest often comes to life. Together with an experienced local guide, we visit areas where moose like to spend their time, and along the way, you’ll learn more about the wildlife, nature, and stories belonging to the mountains.

With a little luck, you’ll experience moose up close—a powerful nature experience that is just as suitable for curious children as it is for nature-loving adults.

Canoe Safari

A day on the water you won’t soon forget

There are few ways to experience the high mountains like from a canoe. Together with a local guide, we paddle through several of the beautiful mountain lakes around Gålå, with plenty of time for breaks, photography, and nature experiences along the way.

You will receive training in paddling techniques and safe travel on the water, and the guide will share stories about the nature, culture, and wildlife in the area. The trip includes lunch and is suitable for both beginners and experienced paddlers.

Mountain Hike to Valsfjell

Experience the Gålå view at its finest

Join a local guide to the top of Valsfjell, one of Gålå’s most beautiful viewpoints. Along the way, you’ll experience beautiful mountain nature, hear stories about mountain farm life, and visit places that have left a mark on local history—including Solbråseter, where the first rauost (brown cheese) was made in 1863.

The hike proceeds at a relaxed pace with plenty of time for breaks, coffee, and views, and is suitable for both active families and adults wanting an enriching day in the mountains.

Festival Summer at Gålå

Events

Summer at Gålå is not just about mountains, silence, and active days outdoors. Throughout the season, the area also fills with concerts, culture, and great meeting places.

In June, the Rondaståk Mountain Festival gathers music lovers for three days of powerful concert experiences and a great festival atmosphere. Later in the summer, the Peer Gynt Cultural Festival invites you to nine days of theater, concerts, art, and culture—all with the beautiful mountain nature as a backdrop.

Between the festivals, everything is set for great days outdoors. Climb in the treetops, paddle across Lake Gålåvatnet, try frisbee golf, go fishing, or enjoy a quiet moment in the Peer Sauna. At Gålå, it’s easy to fill the day with experiences—whether you’re seeking activity or just want to enjoy the peace of the mountains.
